Plain-Language Summary

Extended Warranty

Pros: Big repairs covered; Watch: exclusions, deductibles, maintenance records; Ask: coverage list & cancellation terms.

Loan / Credit Insurance

Pros: Peace of mind; Watch: waiting periods, partial coverage; Ask: claim requirements & refund schedule.

GAP Coverage

Pros: Useful with low down payment; Watch: exclusions, only total-loss; Ask: max benefit & triggers.

Rule of thumb: A $5,000 add-on at 11.9% for 72 months ends up around $6,4xx total.

Myth-Busters (Common Dealer Gimmicks)

“Cash Back”

Reality

It’s your own money financed at the loan rate. Higher balance = more interest.

“0% Interest”

Reality

Often offset by higher vehicle prices/fees. Compare the total cost.

“We Applied Your Tax Exemption”

Reality

Sometimes price is marked up so savings vanish. Demand with-tax vs without-tax quotes.

“Add-Ons Required”

Reality

Approval is about your file — not buying extras.

Standard Approval Roadmap (Canada)

  1. Identity: Govt photo ID; status card if claiming exemption.
  2. Income: CRA NOAs/T1s, bank statements, employer/buyer letters (2+ years if possible).
  3. Residence: Utility bill, bank statement, or Band office letter.
  4. Credit Check: Dealer/lender pulls Equifax/TransUnion after we forward your file.
  5. Down Payment: Sometimes required for seasonal/non-salaried income.
  6. Apply: When ready, go back to the home page and use the contact form.
Important: If income isn’t documented, approval chances are low — even with a down payment. On-reserve, tax-exempt income must still be documented.
